Day 1:  Saturday, April 25, 2020 – Santa Cruz, CA to San Jose, Costa Rica – Tour Begins

Your tour opens in the colorful capital city of San Jose, the perfect place to relax and soak up the sights as your adventure begins.

Day 2: Sunday, April 26, 2020 San Jose, Costa Rica – Coffee Plantation – Guanacaste

Welcome to the Central Valley. Begin with a tour of a local coffee plantation highlighting the history and cultivation of this driver of the Costa Rican economy. This afternoon, arrive in breathtaking Guanacaste, known for its fine sandy beaches. Settle in for  a relaxing 2 night stay at your resort and take in the mesmerizing ocean views. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 3: Monday, April 27, 2020 Guanacaste

Fun in the sun is in store today as you explore the nearby beaches, or simply relax by the pool and take advantage of your resort’s lovely amenities. This afternoon, visit the delightful beach town of Samara, one of the top sunset spots in Costa Rica. Soak in the spectacular colors as the sun illuminates the natural landscape. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 4: Tuesday, April 28, 2020 Guanacaste – Monteverde

It’s off to the secluded Monteverde Cloud Forest, a place you have to see to believe, where trees grow to heights of 100 feet! Set off on a nature walk through this spectacular ecosystems, where you’re sure to encounter many incredible species of flora and fauna. Keep your eyes peeled and you may be lucky enough to spot the elusive quetzal! (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 5: Wednesday, April 29, 2020 Monteverde – It’s your choice!

Explore one of the world’s largest butterfly gardens and a dazzling gallery containing more than 100 beautiful hummingbirds. Then, join an expert for a leisurely paced “Hanging Bridges” walking tour to gain a different perspective of the cloud forest’s lush ecosystem –OR– take an exhilarating ride on one of the longest canopy zip line tours in Costa Rica. If you would like to do both the hanging bridge and the zip line tour, you may purchase the second an option on tour. This evening, take part in an expert-led discussion about the migratory birds that flock to Costa Rica. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 6: Thursday, April 30, 2020 Monteverde – Lake Arenal Cruise – Arenal

Uncover the importance of conservation in Costa Rica during a visit to a tree nursery. Learn about indigenous trees and Monteverde’s reforestation efforts. Cross beautiful mountain landscapes to Arenal, where the spectacular views of the famous volcano await your discovery. Enjoy a delightful cruise on Lake Arenal, Costa Rica’s largest and most important lake. Later, check in for another 2 night stay at a lodge overlooking the majestic Arenal Volcano. Get to know the Costa Rican culture this evening, taste your way through a cooking demostration featuring local ingredients. End your evening dining on the recipes of Costa Rica as a guitarist serenades you. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 7: Friday, May 1, 2020 Arenal – Cano Negro – Arenal

What’s next? A Cano Negro guided riverboat trip in a covered canoe known as a panga. These 20,000 acres are home to the largest viewable collection of indigenous wildlife in all Costa Rica. Go in search of caimans, river otters, sloths, monkeys, river turtles, exotic birds and rare butterflies. Later, return to Arenal for the chance to relax during an optional spa visit. (Breakfast)

Day 8: Saturday, May 2, 2020 Arenal – Zarcero – San Jose, CR

Today, get a little whimsical as we journey to the charming town of Zarero to explore its fanciful topiary garden. Continue to San Jose to see the treasures of the city on a panoramic tour. See the bustling Plaza de Cultura. This evening, bid farewell to paradise over a wonderful dinner with your fellow travelers. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 9: Sunday, May 3, 2020 San Jose, CR to Santa Cruz, California   Tour Ends Today or Extend

Tour Ends today, depart for home with fabulous memories of your Costa Rica adventure OR extend your vacation with an Optional 4 days/3 night Jungle Adventure Post Tour Extension

Enjoy an exciting soft-adventure jungle extension to Tortuguero, the Amazon of Costa Rica. Explore the region’s wildlife by boat, viewing macaws, sloths, monkeys, falcons and other native species. Day 10: Monday, May 4, 2020 Tortuguero National Park

An early morning bird watching excursion is offered so you may learn about the variety of local species and migratory birds that flock to this area. Later, experience a spectacular boat cruise through the various canals and be sure to keep an eye out for wildlife including howler monkeys, sloths, toucans, aquatic birds, bats and caimans, as well as exotic flora. Tortuguero National Park is a study in rainforest, freshwater, and marine biology. It protects over 350 species of birds and mammals including green macaws; 57 species of amphibians; 111 species of reptiles; and 60 mammal species, including 13 of Costa Rica’s 16 endangered species including jaguars, tapirs, ocelots, cougars, river otters and manatees. Day 11: Tuesday, May 5, 2020 Tortuguero – San Jose, CR

Return to San Jose for your last night in Costa Rica before your return home. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 12: Wednesday, May 6, 2020 San Jose, CR – Santa Cruz, California

Your tour comes to a close today. Return flights to San Franscisco TBA

Jungle Adventure Extension important notice

 Please Note:

The transportation to and from Tortuguero, as well as your guide in Tortuguero, are provided by the lodge where you will be staying in Tortuguero. These services and sightseeing as specified in your itinerary will be provided by the personnel of the lodge in Tortuguero. This price includes meals as outlined; roundtrip transportation to Tortuguero; 2 nights at the Evergreen, Aninga or Pachira lodge, and 1 night in San Jose.

During your extension, your local guide will provide included sightseeing services and will be available via a local office at other times.

Extensions are subject to availability and applicable charges at time of request.

Due to luggage size and weight restrictions on the boats, please bring an overnight bag for the 2-night stay in Tortuguero National Park. Please make arrangements with the concierge’s desk at the hotel in San Jose for luggage pick up and for storage until your return from Tortuguero.

A minimum of 4 passengers is required for this extension to operate.

This extension requires average physical activity. You should be in good health, able to climb stairs and walk reasonable distances, possibly over uneven ground and cobblestone streets.

Pricing:

Double Occupancy: $2849 per person with early booking discount (add $100 after 10/25/19)

Single Supplement: $3349 per person with early booking discount (add $100 after 10/25/19)

Triple Occupancy: $2819 per person with early booking discount (add $100 after 10/25/19)

Price is per person, based on single, double or triple occupancy including round trip airfare from San Francisco. Terms and conditions apply and are available for inspection at Pacific Harbor Travel. Taxes and fuel surcharges are set by the airlines and local jurisdictions and are subject to change prior to departure. 

Transfers between Santa Cruz and the airport (at scheduled times) and to all listed lodging and attractions, airfare to and from listed destinations, listed lodging, designated meals and listed attractions including guide services are included. Other expenditures are the responsibility of the traveler. Hotels are subject to change, but will be equivalent to those mentioned in the itinerary.

 

Important Reservation Information:

Travel Protection Plan

Although our quotation does not include the cost of a Travel Protection Plan, we strongly recommend clients purchase this protection. If passengers would like to purchase the Travel Insured Protection Plan, there will be an additional cost of $315.00 per person payable with the deposit. 

Reservations are made on a first come first serve basis. Reservations made after the deposit due date of October 18, 2019 are based on availability.  Your price is subject to increase prior to the time you make full payment. Your price is not subject to increase after you make full full payment, except for changes resulting from increases in government imposed taxes or fees.

If you choose not to purchase Collette’s Waiver Insurance Plan, you will incur penalties for changes and cancellations. Travel Protection Payment is due with first deposit. The Waiver Fee does not cover any single supplement charges which arise from an individual’s traveling companion electing to cancel for any reason prior to departure. the single supplement will be deducted from the refund of the person who cancels. Passports and Visas

It is the responsibility of each tour participant to obtain a valid passport. Your passport must be valid for six months after your date of arrival into Costa Rica. If you are holding a passport issued by a country other than the United States, it is your responsibility to check with the consulate of Costa Rica for entry requirements.

Payment Schedule

At the time of booking a $500.00 non-refundable deposit plus the Travel Protection Plan (if selected) is required for each participant. The final payment is due by February 25, 2020.

Cancellation Penalties

Deposits are refundable up until October 25, 2019.  We strongly recommend our Travel Insured Protection Plan.

Change Fees
